The quick fix is to just remove the suspicious Group Policy registry key causing the problem. First make a manual System Restore point just in case. Best regards, Steve. I found the AU file and deleted it. I set Never for Automatic Update and rebooted. Windows update is chugging away and I will know by morning if 21 months of updates will be waiting for me.
